Due to poor, but not disastrous, river conditions, Torpids 2026 was replaced with TorpHeads — a head race run on what would have been the Saturday of Torpids. The idea was twofold: it would allow for more crews to compete than would be possible under half divisions, as was done in 2025; and would be safer and easier to run on high stream in comparison to Bumps.
Owing to the success of TorpHeads 2026, it is likely it will run again in later years where the stream is high but still safely rowable.
